A member asked:

What do eating disorders have to do with control issues?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Safety: This is a very interesting question, anorexia is unlike many other psychiatric problems because of how strongly attached the person with anorexia is to their problem. In a world where so much is out of control and unpredictable, eating is something that one can control. For someone who needs safety and predictability and ability to control something in their lives, sometimes food becomes that.
