Time: time is the difference between normal painless delivery and cesarean section. A c/section is done most of the time under spinal analgesia (shot in the back) that causes numbing, sometimes under general anesthesia, and takes between half an hour and an hour and a half. The normal labor process takes about 10 hours, during which epidural analgesia alleviates the pain the laboring woman experiences.
