Is renal malrotation detected by ultrasound?

Yes: I use renal ultrasound when i insert drainage tubes into the obstructed kidney for decompression. Malrotation is readily apparent since the insertion point has to be adjusted further anteriorly to properly access the distended renal collecting elements.
