Coughing back pain: Yes coughing too much can cause: 1. Muscle strain 2. Muscle spasm 3. Disc abnormality (herniation, bulge, tear...) 4. Facet joint irritation (whiplash joint) if it persists, it is probably time to see a doctor. Weakness, nausea, vomiting, fever, bowel or bladder changes would be very worrisome symptoms if you have those as well.
