A member asked:

Is it safe to wash your vagina with toothpaste?

Consider the reason: The vagina is actually a 'self-cleaning' organ, so actively washing should not be required. Along the same lines as douching, cleansing the vagina disrupts the normal flora and ph balance and can actually cause infection. Consider your purpose: if you are having discharge and odor, see your doctor. You may have an infection that needs to be treated.

No: No; toothpaste would irritate your vagina. Use a vaginal douche.

Not good idea: Wash your vagina regularly with mild soap and clean water. Please, don't ever do this to your vagina, save the toothpaste for your teeth only.

TOOTH paste: Save it for the teeth and use a feminine hygiene product for your most intimate of areas.

No: Can cause tissue irritation similar to a burn. Talk to your GP or OBGyn about appropriate hygiene techniques. Save the toothpaste for the uses indicated on the package label.
