Withdrawal: In my practice, I have several patients who have related feeling ill or irritable as their Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) wears off. My opinion is the most likely reason is amphetamine withdrawal. With my patients, i tend to recommend they take a second dose about one hour before the first wears off, and that tends to take care of the problem, and enhance their functioning during the second part of the day.
