Dry skin: The chlorine in pool water and the salt in the sea will over time wash away the natural oils of your skin leading to dry skin, flaking and cracking. After enjoying the water make sure you use a hydrating lotion to help protect the skin.

Sebum: Your skin is covered with its own special oil called sebum. Sebum is found on the outermost layer of skin and it moistens, or lubricates, and protects your skin. It also makes your skin a bit waterproof. But staying in water for a long time washes away the sebum. Then, the water can penetrate the outer layer of your skin. This causes your skin to become waterlogged. Your skin will become wrinkly.
