Possible: Although it is more common to see strep infections when there is pus on the tonsils, a variety of infections can result in pus, including sexually transmitted infections. However, these tend to be less common, but they certainly occur. If you have had sexual relations with someone who you think may have an std, your risk goes up. Any pus on the tonsils should be evaluated w/ a culture & treated.
