I fell on cement, hit knee. should i be using heat or just ice?

Ice first: Generally the first few days we encourage icing to minimize the inflammation. After a few days you can start adding heat to encourage circulation and the healing process. Ice can still be used especially if the knee becomes too inflamed/painful after activity. See a doctor to rule out any fracture or injury to the knee.
