How much taller will a girl grow after she starts her period?

Usu. about 2 inches: Once a young lady has had her first menstrual cycle, the typical girl has about 2 more inches to grow. However, your pediatrician could plot out her growth chart and perhaps give you a more precise answer specific for your child if you ask on the next office visit.

Expect 2.5 inches: Most will grow another 2.5 inches (5 cm) after the first cycle. Some a bit more or less, but the hormonal events bringing on menses begin signiling the growth plates to close, which ends linear growth.
