A member asked:

How can you tell when bronchitis turns into pneumonia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

May be difficult: It can be difficult to tell the difference some times, but pneumonia typically is more severe with more cough and mucous production as well as fevers. Bronchitis tends to be more mild, but if you have underlying COPD or other lung disease it may be more difficult to tell. A chest xray and physical exam can help distinguish.
