Common: Nocturnal leg cramps are very common are generally not serious although very painful. Inadequate hydration can contribute. He should be checked for an electrolyte imbalance (but will probably be normal). Stretching the "toes toward the nose" will usually immediately relieve a calf cramp. Walking also helps. Vit b, esp pyridoxine can help prevent. Also verapamil and Diltiazem also 4 prevention.
