Common problem after: This is a common problem after surgery that mostly occurs due to inadequate clearance of secretions from the lungs. This is because it generally hurts to cough after surgery (due to pain at the site of surgery, especially after abdominal procedures). Adequate pain control along with postural drainage & incentive spirometry are some possible solutions. Talk to your doctor about yr symptoms.

See a doctor: Post anesthesia complications are more common in older patients and if you were intubated then pneumonia or even more serious complications are possible. Any new symptoms following a surgical procedure should be investigated asap. If you can't reach your doctor go to the er now, not tomorrow.

Airway inflammation: You likely have airway inflammation as a consequence of intubation. It usually resolves in 4-5 days. Pneumonia would be associated with fever , dark mucous, chest pain and shortness of breath.

Probably not: Sometimes the airway will cause some swelling from irritation at the level of the eustachion tube which could cause your symptoms. If you have a fever, see your doctor or go to the emergency room.
