Not very hard.: Observing a patient keys you in to the diagnosis. People with this condition tend to have very large hands and feet. The size of the feet is disproportionate to height. They also have a very prominent forehead. If a doctor is suspecting this simle blood test will confirm your suspicion. Growth hormone, and prolactin are often elevated and a low testosterone in males is common.A brain MRI is next.

Variable: Sometimes the diagnosis can be made from across the room at the first visit. Other times, it can be extremely difficult and require extensive evaluation, x-rays, lab testing, procedures, etc. Usually, it's somewhere in the middle and a good endocrinologist should be able to help you make the proper diagnosis and arrange appropriate treatment.
