Cardio-pulmonary eti: Cardiac or pulmonary problems are included in the etiologies of chest tightness. Blockages in the coronary arteries ie. The arteries which feed the heart blood can do this. Also, a pulmonary embolism ie. A blood clot in the lungs can cause this. It could also be caused by pneumonia or irritated muscles of the chest or less likely a dissection of the thoracic aorta.
