Cardio-pulmonary eti: Cardiac or pulmonary problems are included in the etiologies of chest tightness. Blockages in the coronary arteries ie. The arteries which feed the heart blood can do this. Also, a pulmonary embolism ie. A blood clot in the lungs can cause this. It could also be caused by pneumonia or irritated muscles of the chest or less likely a dissection of the thoracic aorta.

Chest pain: There are many causes of chest pain, the heart is but one, intestinal gas and thoracic musculoskeletal pains are very common, anxiety and panic attacks likewise are frequent causes. You should always ask the doctors who see you what they think is the problem you came for and what to do about it.
