Different tissue: It is common for the breasts to contain different glands and one breast act a bit different than another. If the breast is not reddened and inflamed, using cold compresses on the breast will help reduce the engorgement.

Plugged milk duct: You may have developed a plugged milk duct, which can happen if you are not emptying out the breast during the weaning process. That backed up milk can then lead to mastitis, an infection of the breast. Start warm packs, some gentle massage, and see OB tomorrow as you may need antibiotics for this before it gets you really sick.
