Muscle / Kidney: There is no such thing as "too much exercise." if your creatinine is high because you're a bodybuilder (as high as 2.0 isn't unknown), good for you. If it is high because your kidneys are working poorly, it's your heads-up.

Several reasons.: Ususally due to reduced kidney function with retention of creatinine. Since it comes from muscle metabolism, creatinine can rise from serious muscle damage in which case muscle breaks down and could overwhelm the kidneys ability to excrete it.

Creatinine: Increased lean mass with elevate the amount of creatinine seen on routine labs in people that exercise. Also anything that effects the effective filtration of the kidneys may be indicated by elevation of the blood creatinine. Examples could be the use of anti-inflammatory medications.
