Plaque on tongue: Unless you have been on antibiotics or your immune system is compromised, it isn't likely that you have thrush, which is a superficial yeast infection. Best way to tell for sure is to have your doctor look and evaluate.

Not Plaque: It's impossible to make a diagnosis based just on one sign. However, the majority of common white lesions of the tongue are fungal. It's usually "candidiasis, " or what you might call "thrush." that's not something that easily goes away by itself. You should see a dentist & get some medication. More importantly, your dentist needs to rule out other problems. It's not plaque if it's on your tongue.
