PCOS treatment: If you have irregular periods and you are trying not to get pregnant, then the birth control pills are the best way to reduce the symptoms. If you have other symptoms such as acne or abnormal hair growth, you should talk to your doctor about the birth control pill best for you and what other medications would be helpful to control the other symptoms.

Diet and exercise: And weight loss are essential. Metformin will help reduce Insulin resistance in many women and may often restore normal menses and even fertility. Bcp's are sometimes used, but don't treat the basic problem. Other medications are available for specific indications. Check w/your doctor.

Hormone and: Metformin. The hormone is Progesterone based and helps to counter the unopposed estrogen and the metformin helps to lose weight and prevent metabolic syndrome . You might have to take some medication to help with the hirsuitism due to the excess androgen as well. Good luck.
