Proparacaine: Proparacaine eye drops are used during an eye exam to help a physician determine a number of things. These include measuring the pressure of the eyeball and looking for a scratch on the cornea. Proparacaine is almost never used to treat eye pain since it usually interferes with the ability of the cornea to heal. One exception is after some types of corneal surgery, and only then by prescription.

Proparacane: Proparacaine is a topical anesthetic used for opthalmologiic cases such as cataract extraction or even tonometry or suture removal. It is dispensed in 15 ml containers with a preservative benzalkonium chloride. Unless the solution is dark or cloudy, or has been contaminated, it can be used for multiple applications.
