How can you tell if your lap band has a leak?

Ask doctor: It is not easy for a person to tell if his band has a leak. If the band feels tight briefly and then doesn't, it could be a sign that there is a leak in the system. Your doctor would have to do a test under xray to confirm that. Fortunately , the band is filled with saline so it is not dangerous to have a leak.

Band leak: Your band would get loose and you wouldn't feel any restriction anymore. Then you get a fill to make it tight, and it gets loose again. Your surgeon can check to see how much fluid is in the band. If they put in 10cc and there is only 5cc when they check, it is leaking.
