Can hyperinflated lungs on x-ray be wrong?

Sometimes: It can be a result of over-cooperating (when they tell the patient to take a deep breath- some take a really deep breath). Or it can be seen in COPD (emphysema) or reactive airway disease (asthma).

Can be: With young, healthy people who are able to take and hold a very deep inspiration, the lungs may appear hyperinflated on the chest x-ray when they are actually normal.
