Amblyopia = lazy eye: Amblyopia, commonly called "lazy eye, " is a unilateral decrease in visual acuity without a structural problem to explain it. The peak incidence is between 3 and 8 years of age, depending on the type. Treatment can range from visual correction, occluding the unaffected eye or surgery to remove cataracts. If this is you, see an ophthalmologist for a thorough work up.
