Both can do the job: A podiatrist is a doctor of podiatric medicine (dpm) who is qualified by his or her education and training and experience to diagnose and treat conditions affecting the foot, ankle, and related structures of the leg. Practitioners may focus on many different specialty areas, including surgery, orthopedics, biomechanics, sports medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics, primary care, and wound care.

Orthopedic surgeon.: I'm biased tho. Whoever you see tell them this.1 only clean up the spurs,no other thing. 2 be sure that they use "bone wax ". This is sterile bee's wax it is pushed into the raw bone edges left from cutting off the spurs, it hinders bone growth so they don't recur as well as stop any bleeding from the bone. That's what I always did,no fancy dancy stuff.no osteotomy or joint replacement or more.
