Depends: This would not apply to an emergency situation. Obviously, an electrocardiogram is done in all patient requiring cardioversion. Also, echocardiogram in most. Additional studies may be done based on situation/diagnosis. For example, in patients with atrial fibrillation, a transesophageal echocardiogram maybe needed.
