Rhythm disturbances.: Cardioversion is an electronic technique used to convert an abnormal rhythm back to a normal one. The procedure is performed in a hospital under light anesthesia. Various rhythm disturbances such as atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter among others are treated with cardioversion. The results are usually successful and apparent immediately.
