Depends on type of: Surgery performed to remove it as well as the size and aggressiveness of the initial skin cancer. Mohs excision (usually performed by a dermatologist) is the most effective removal technique because it has a very low recurrence rate.

Depends: Basal cell carcinoma is curable as long as the cells are completely removed. The best chance of doing this is with mohs micrographic surgery. Occasionally it's not possible to remove the tumor completely because it's already invaded into the nerves. In this case the cancer can recur.
