Bumps or blisters : Herpes lesions classically start as a red bump and will transition into a fluid filled blister. There may be one or a cluster. The surrounding skin may be red. They typically are painful more than itchy. They will eventually scab over. Any lesion suspected of being herpes on a baby should be evaluated immediately as there can be more serious generalized problems that can develop.
