Yes and no...: Any antidepressant can cause weight gain but some more than others. Many would consider bupropion (welbutrin) to be weight neutral but there have been cases of significant weight gain even on this medication.

Wellbutrin & Effexor (venlafaxine): Wellbutrin (generic name bupropion) and Effexor (generic name venlafaxine) are 2 antidepressants that are more activating and may result in weight loss.
