Can doctors do anything for a steam burn and scars?

Poor scars can be improved through the following methods: 1) scar massage 2) silicone sheeting (a kind of silicone tape you where over the scar) 3) steroid injections 4) laser treatment (helps remove coloring) 5) scar revision (removing the scar and starting over). Consult with a plastic surgeon to find out which combination of these would best work for you.

Steam burn & scars: If you are in your acute phase, you should be receiving burn care now. As for scarring, its not expected if your burn is second degree (blistering) or less. If you have a third degree burn (no sensation), scarring will develop to some degree and your surgeon will have to come up with strategies to manage it down the road.
