Numbness: The numbness like this is typically caused by a pinched nerve on the top of the foot. Either a bone spur pinching the nerve or even tight laced shoes could cause this.

Could be: Could be many things such as nerve impingement, vitamin B12 deficiency, spinal nerve compression, side effects from medications, etc. Hope this helps.
