HAVE: A second opinion. Take your medical records and go have a second opinion by seeing a lung disease specialist and an ENT one. Make sure you do not have gerd (acid reflux). Rare in your age group but should be ruled out too...

Chronic cough: I seriously doubt the diagnosis made to you. I've not been aware of such diagnosis. I suggest a work up that includes ruling out acid reflux, environmental allergies, tuberculosis, malignancy, etc. Your doc should consider these and other issues and order appropriate work up.
