French physician: The scleroderma foundation website states that in 1862, auguste-maurice raynaud, a french physician, wrote a thesis describing the color changes of hands and feet triggered by exposure to cold. Scleroderma is an autoimmune disorder (connective tissue disorder) in which patients can have raynaud's symptoms as part of their disease.
