There is no one best: Medication. However, i really like a medication called buspar (buspirone). It is old, inexpensive & mild. What are you doing for your anxiety besides psychotric medications? There a # of ways to address anxiety: cognitive behavioral therapy, behavior modification, individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, psychotropic medications, qi gong, tai chi, acupuncture, acupressure, homeopathy, meditation, yoga.

Meds like yours: For typical anxiety/stress meds that work on the serotonin system (ssris) are a first line choice. Venlafaxine works on serotonin and norepinephrine (snri) which is also a good choice. Your dose may need to be adjusted. Also, nearly all ssri and snri meds have equal efficacy (no one stands out as better than the next), and effective results are more specific from one person to another.
