Unusual: This does not sound like the typical eyelid twitching that people get related to stress, fatigue, or excessive caffeine consumption. That the twitching extends down your face and is related to the eye being open or closed makes me think more of a neurological problem than an eye problem. I would discuss this with your neurologist or medical doctor.

Blepharospasm: When you stimulate the delicate muscles of the eyelids, they can go into spasm. If it is confined to the eyelids, it is called "blepharospasm". If it spreads it can be a facial spasm. Sometimes this is benign, sometimes, serious. Eliminate stimulants (coffee), and see if it resolves. If not see an ophthalmologist or neurologist or your general doctor.
