Dissociative State: This can be a defense againg dealing with the reality in your life. See a clinical psychologist who can help you face the situations in your life you are dissociating from. As you begin to deal with the issues in your life effectively it is likely that your dissociative tendencies will be reduced. It will take time so be understanding toward yourself and begin the process of becoming more grounded.

You Can Recover: Psychotherapy is essential, since often dissociation is the result of trauma. Meanwhile, practice grounding skills and identifying triggers. When you can predict circumstances that are especially upsetting, you can prepare for them differently. Meanwhile, some grounding exercises are found here: http://www.peirsac.org/peirsacui/er/educational_resources10.pdf
