Yes: Accutane used in treatment of acne known to cause inflmatory bowel diseases ( ulcerative colitis, crohn's disease ) which is permanent, this drug is to be given under the supervision of dermatologist , no more than a month supply at each time.

No: There were previous studies showing a questionable link between these conditions, but they were all small and questionable, leaving the question very open. However, a very large study reported in 2013 involving 45, 000 women shows no link between Accutane and ulcerative colitis and crohn's disease. No study has ever reported ulcerative colitis or crohn's in offspring.

Had ulcerative colitis for 15 yrs (confirmed by sigmoid and biopsies). Just had 1st colonoscopy, shows granular, loss of vascular pattern and minor ulcers in ascending colon, cecum, sigmoid and colon. Is this UC or chrons?
I have a friend who took accutane for a few years. Does this mean hes at high risk of developing ulcerative colitis and/or crohn's disease?
