can a double inguinal hernia cause ed?

2 doctor answers
Dr. Mark Hoepfner

Not directly: Hernias do not have a direct affect on erectile function. Indirectly, the pressure or discomfort or swelling of a hernia could have secondary side effects on sexual function, just due to the uncomfortable symptoms from the hernia.

Psycologically: Inguinal hernias, in and of themselves, do not interfere with penile erection. Fretting about them or pain associated with sex can cause ed. You should see a surgeon about repair.
