Is letrozole more effective than ovarian drilling by minilaparotomy?

Unclear but: While ovarian drilling may be effective in causing ovulation and achieving pregnancy, it is surgery (which entails a number of risks) and may cause scar tissue on the ovaries and deplete the supply of eggs. It is also rather unusual to have a laparotomy since this is almost always done by laparoscopy. Meds such as letrazole are safer. Drilling is usually a last resort.
