Rare but yes: We have seen in our practice 1-2 patients over 8 years; mostly lumps are benign but unfortunately cancer can occur at any age;.

Yes: It is uncommon, but young women can get breast cancer, especially if there is a strong family history. If there is a concern, then she should be seen by a surgeon and have an us examination in addition to a breast exam. Most tumors in this age group are benign fibroadenomas.
