Urinary Retention: Many causes for the inability to pee and associated pain. The most common cause in men is enlargement of the prostate (bph). Some of the other causes are obstruction due to foreign body (kidney or bladder stone, blood clots), prostate cancer, bladder cancer, urethral scar tissue (stricture), urethral trauma (disruption), pelvic nerve injury, complete retention requires urgent medical attention.

Possible prostate : Prostate disease, including infection, obstruction, enlargement, and cancer, can cause these symptoms. A UTI or urinary tract stone can cause similar symptoms. See your doctor or a urologist.
