Most do: When metal and polyethylene implants separate and then come back together, it can create a 'click' in the knee. Most patients with tka will experience this. Early on it may be related to swelling in the joint and be caused by the patella hitting the femoral implant while walking. When the swelling is gone, the femoral and tibial implant can separate slightly and click when they re-contact.

Knee click: The click is caused by metal impacting against plastic, a common finding after total knee replacement.
