Normal: The estrogen levels increase as you approach your period. The increased estrogen stimulates the breast tissue to hypertrophy and causes fibrocystic breast tissue to retain fluid. That makes the breasts fuller, denser, and heavier. It can also lead to more breast pain and tenderness.
