A member asked:

What does fullness of bilateral renal collecting systems mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Renal anatomy: The solid tissue of the kidney is divided into an outer cortex and inner medulla. The blood is filtered and urine and is produced here. Urine is emptied into the collecting system of the renal pelvis. The ureters then transport urine to the bladder. Prominence or enlargement of the collecting system can sometimes indicate obstruction to this outflow. Bilateral means it is seen on both sides.
