Sometimes: Heavy menstrual flow should be evaluated by a physician. Sometimes high dose Ibuprofen 600-800mg may decrease flow. Oral contraceptives or a Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud may decrease flow as well. Evaluation by a physician may help determine the cause of heavy flow and can be treated appropriately.
