Many options.: There are many options to treat heavy menstrual bleeding. Many but not all of these are hormonal. There are also some surgical options. Which treatment would be the best choice for you would depend on your medical history. It would be best to consult with your doctor about which methods would be the best for you.

Sometimes: Heavy menstrual flow should be evaluated by a physician. Sometimes high dose Ibuprofen 600-800mg may decrease flow. Oral contraceptives or a Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud may decrease flow as well. Evaluation by a physician may help determine the cause of heavy flow and can be treated appropriately.
