Marinol: I can't speak for your physician but I am not aware of any trials or studies where Marinol was shown to decrease symptoms or their severity in ptsd. It's schedule iii controlled substance by fda and is basically man-made cannabis. Only approved for anorexia/wt. Loss in HIV or severe vomiting while undergoing chemotherapy for ca. I would not rx for ptsd there are other meds that have been studied.

My understanding is: That there is an on-going trial in israel (hadassah medical organization, jerusalem 91120, israel) currently to look at this issue. Since, ptsd is not currently an indication for marinol, i doubt that a physician will prescribe it. I believe when more research outcomes are available - this issue can be more fully explored. See: http://clinicaltrials.Gov/ct2/show/nct00965809.

Probably not: Marinol is not clinically approved for treatment of PTSD. Perhaps when more research and studies become available it may be considered as an option.
