Yes.: Post partum bleeding is a normal part of the birth process. There can be abnormal bleeding as well but your doctor will know the difference.

Yes: Once you give birth, either by vaginal delivery or cesarean section, you will immediately bleed. This bleeding may seem heavy, especially since you have not had a cycle for 10 months! this bleeding may continue during your postpartum period off and on for up to 8 weeks. Most new moms bleed continually for 2 weeks then bleeding slows down or stops. Breastfeeding and contraception can alter pattern.
