It could : Be many things, but most likely it's a benign ganglion cyst. You should still see a family physician and let them make proper diagnosis and advise on treatment. Good luck from nyc.

Ganglion cyst: Its probably a ganglion cyst if it reoccurs i would see a hand orthopedic for evaluation.
