Telogen effluvium: Each hair follicle has it's own growth and rest cycle. Telogen effluvium occurs when follicles are influenced by major stress, hormonal influence and other triggers to enter the rest phase together. When this happens many of your hairs fall out together. The hairs will eventually regrow and enter their normal pattern, but it can be disconcerting.
