Other treatments: Artificial tears aren't really a cure anyways. Start off with warm compresses, minimum 15 continuous min, using a beanie bag. There are other ways to help dry eyes as well, like omega-3, doxycycline, punctal plugs, ointments. Best to let your ophthalmologists guide your treatments.

Dry eye treatment: Your description sounds like dry eye. Initial treatment is frequent artificial tears during the day, ointment at night, warm compresses a few times a day, and omega-3 fatty acid supplements. If no improvement, you should see an eye doctor for further evaluation. For dry eye, you are going to need sone drops but punctal plugs may be beneficial.
